Hi there, just joined the forum. Always loved the 'fat body' 71-73 and ran across a 73 Q-Code 4 speed car last year. Bought it to restore with my boys and hoping to get it running this summer and on the road by next year. With it, I got a TON of spare parts. If anyone is looking for anything, let me know. Welcome to the site...It looks like a great father/son(s) project. Did it have the original drive train in it? I am a huge fan of 4 speed cars! Looking forward to seeing more pictures of the restoration.
Thanks all! I was able to check the partial serial number on the inner fender and the back of the block which match the dash and the title. Only thing I couldn't check was the top of the transmission. From what I understand you have to have the tranny out of the car and remove the top cover to see the partial VIN on that, but I could be wrong.
From all the documentation I have on the car, I really think it's all original. Even got the original invoice from the dealer. Original DSO was WV and it had all the performance options and 0 comfort options ordered with it, which is kind of cool, although I would've loved to have the folding rear seat. I actually have all the OEM parts for the folder from another donor car, but I can't see myself taking a torch or welder to this car just to add that option.
The engine was rebuilt about 8 years ago by a friend of the previous owner who 'did it all right'. The owner has receipts for EVERYTHING except the engine rebuild, so needless to say, I'm really anxious to get it started soon. Currently has the Edelbrock intake and Carb, but I have the orignal in a box as well.
That is awesome, sounds like the car is well documented! And I agree, I would favor the performance options over the comfort any day. Based on that research, it is probably a good assumption that the original transmission is in the car too. Keep that original dealer invoice safe; it's nice to have it. I would make a copy of it to have an extra and probably have it laminated to perserve it.
