If I am not mistaken Kit's car has over 350,000 miles of personal ownership use! It has been in a couple of major bangs but he has stayed on top of it and it is a sharp looking car.
Here are a few pics of my car. I ordered it and bought it new in late 1970, and it was my daily driver for over 25 years.
Many accidents over the years, and it was even stolen and recovered twice.
I have driven that car everywhere: From Houston (where it was purchased), I have driven it all over Texas, up into the panhandle, over to El Paso, and over the Beaumont too. Down to Laredo (and into Mexico a few times too!).
Took it to New Orleans on many occasions to visit my inlaws, and up to Kansas to see some of the wife's relatives.
Took it to California (Disneyland!) a few times, and up the coast to Oregon and Washington for some great holidays with the wife. Detoured to Vegas on the way back to Houston on each trip!
Boise, Idaho was home for a few years, and it was great there. Up to the Sawtooth mountains for great scuba trips.
Unfortunately, I spent 15 years in Buffalo, New York...I didn't much care for the cold weather, and the Mustang clearly did not like being turned into a "Rustang" from all the road-salt.
But....a home based garage rebuild/ restore took about 4 years and after a LOT of used sheetmetal, along with a bunch of new Chinese repro sheetmetal, a ton of bone-yard parts over the years, a lot of effort and determination...it still looks and runs great, turns heads on the street and at local cruise nights, and is just as much fun to drive today as it was when I first got it so long ago!
The new wife and I would take the car from Buffalo down to Florida each year on vacay, and stop and stay at great little out-of-the way spots on the along the way each time: The Carolina and the Virginias are great places for weekends trips.
Decided to move to Florida several years ago and now home is Cocoa Beach.
It certainly isn't even close to a 100-point concours MCA car, but I would venture to say that none of those show-room new cars have the history with the owner/ drivers that I do with this car.
I would never consider selling this car anyway, so it is inconsequential what it is really worth to a collector. I have enjoyed the hell out of it over the years and will continue to do so until I can't drive it anymore.
Welcome to the site from Virginia !!! We are glad to have you here !!!
Please dont hesitate to share more with us or ask questions if you have any !!! once again welcome !!
Now thats a story, Kit got what he wanted, drove the Hell out of it, crashed it, and bashed it, recovered it twice, rebuilt it to its former glory, and still drives the Hell out of it! People it just doesn't get any better then that. What a Love affair, it even outlasted his first wife! Now thats dedication!!! Way to go KIT! JTS 71 Mach1
