OK well this was an easy process for me when i did mine.....
First step make sure you have all the necessary materials for this..
Flat head screwdriver
Philips head screw driver
Drill with small drill bit
2 screws(or bolts) with washers and nuts
1 wrench that fits the nuts (2 if using bolts)
box of towels
Ok here we go ....
first start by removing the shaker intake hose from the shaker and the the filter section of the main intake.
once this is done use the Flat head screw driver to release the screw clamp on the section attached to the throttle body.
Once you do that remove your Mass Airflow Sensor wires (the pigtail connection).
Now you need to remove the Mass Airflow Sensor from the original intake tubing make sure you have a couple of towels to cover it in so as not to damage the small wire in the middle of it.... VERY IMPORTANT that you do not damage that wire or you have to replace the MAS.
Also remove the small vacuum hose from the side of the original intake.
once thats done the new JLT RAM/COLD air intake will need some assembly but this is all very easy... you will use the flat head screw driver and the provided screw clamps and attach the parts together.
The important part again is the MAS ... there is some special sealer provided with most intake kits that you have to apply to the outside of the MAS housing prior to inserting it into the new intake tubing....
again BE VERY CAREFULL not to get any sealer on the inside of the MAS cause if it gets on that wire you will need a new MAS....
Once you have assembled the new intake you can now insert it into the engine bay with relative ease....
Hook up the end that goes on the throttle body using the screw clamp....
now before you finish everything up this is where the drill comes into play.... the JLT intake has a plastic box (splash guard) that does not connect to the car which makes it able to bounce around in the engine bar and possibly cause the tubing to come lose from the throttle body...... however it lines up almost perfectly with the thin quarter panel metal that lines the engine bay .... line up your intake box and the metal lip so that they are even (horizontal) and mark your holes on the plastic box..... drill the holes on the box with a SMALL drill bit.... once again line it up in the engine bay and using a sharpie or something similar use the existing holes on the box to mark your holes in the engine bay...
then drill your holes there .....
Now take you intake and make sure its all connected correctly and put it in the car as a whole complete intake.....
take your 2 screws (you can use self tapping if you prefer or bolts)and put the washers on them then put them in and put the nut on the back by reaching under the lip and tightening them from the back with the wrench and the philips head in the front. (you can also use locking washer in the back for that extra happy feeling that it wont come off)
Now depending on the exact JLT intake you get either ram air, cold air,
or ram air with shaker hookup will determine these last few steps.
For the Ram air once you have secured the splash guard just re attach the MAS connector and the small vacuum hose and your finished just start the car up and let it run for about 3 minutes at idle.
Turn the car off for about 5 minutes.... then start the car again and drive it around for about 5 minutes or longer if you like so the computer cal learn the new airflow... you SHOULD NOT get a check engine light from this new intake.... if you do make sure your MAS is plugged in good that would be the only reason for a check engine light.
For the Cold air you may need to (if the kit does not provide one)add a second splash guard for the filter that will be housed down in the fender well... this is very easy and similar to the previous splash guard piece.... if the kit does not provide one you either not install one or buy the necessary parts from home depot or lowes....
i would recommend making one but you will sacrifice some airflow.
Buy flat piece of plastic or similar material ... it needs to go in at an angle just like the one under the front bumper so as to prevent water from getting into the filter .... all you should need is 2 brackets and said screws/bolts for them and attach 1 on each side and then to the car ... make sure you do not use the outside fenderwll wall for anything ..... it will go right through to the outside of the car .... i recommend using a forward and aft connection point ... some cutting may be required to have it fit right.... if you decide to or not to do this is entirely up to you... just follow the same steps as RAM AIR for the computer to learn the new airflow.
For the RAM air with Shaker connection,
Same as ram air except you just need to re attach your shaker hookup hose.... the RAM air w/ shaker hookup plastic splash guard has a precut hole that fits the shaker hose the same as the stock intake... just re attach it as it was on before and then your done just follow same steps as the ram air for the computer learning the new air flow.
Hope this was helpfull to any 03/04 Mach owners and if you have questions or help with an intake on your 03/04 mach let me know as i have learned from the mistakes ... the expensive ones too....
