2003 Mach 1
#1
I have a chance to pick up a 2003 Mach 1 for 11k, it has 88,000 miles, seems to be in good shape and is an automatic. What do you guys think? Talk me out of it. Do you think this will ever have more value than 11k?

Id rather be holding out for a 69 Mach, but the realistic chance of me finding one I can afford is a long shot.

It is probably easier talking someone into buying the car than talking them out it. But, you know as well as I do, as soon as you drop $11k on this car you going to stumble across a 69/70 Mach1 for sale within your price range and you will be kicking yourself. Be patient and keep looking. Although this is a very nice car, the newer Mach's are much easier find.

If you do decide to buy, put on you negotiating hat, you can probably take $2k off the asking price.

Hey Joe! I agree with Mustangmike, It looks nice and all but seems a lot for a 10 year old car with 88,000 and an automatic. (yuck) I think he's also correct about finding a 69. You'll find the 69 right after you buy the 2003 Mach. Has definetly happened to me more then once. Good Luck either way. JTS 71 Mach1

I can find a 69 but there 35k restored or 10k unrestored and need everything. I'm probably going to pass after you both seemed like I should. I have a little money so I'm looking for a project, a running project. Guess I'm bored, with temps 115+ in Arizona right now I'm tired of being inside, sort of like what it feels like to be on the east coast during winter.

Getting a little clostraphobic, are we???? Yeah I know what ya mean Usually it gets pretty hot here in Arkansas. Temps usually hover in the high 90's to 100 It seems like you live air conditioner to air conditioner. Yet come winter it can get cold enough unless you have a heated garage you don't want to go out then either. I guess I'm turning into a sissy about the weather, or maybe it's just age??? SCo_hmmthink Hard to tell at this point. JTS 71 Mach1

The temperatures are steaming here in CT along with very high humidity. Not only does the heat prevent me from working on my car but I can't really paint anything because it will never dry. It seems like the optimum time to work on cars in New England is September through December.

Keep looking for that 69 Mach 1...There should be a very restorable 69 out there in the $7k range. Good luck!

The Mach looks like its in great shape. As long as the paint is original, no body damage, had the oil changed frequently, has decent brakes and tires I say you should pay no more than 10K. If any of the above are not in place I would walk away.

Also don't get me wrong on this because I love my Mach which is exactly like the one you are looking at except it's blue, but at the end of the day I can't see the value going up much or really at all. I could be wrong and in 40 more years the values could go up but I wouldn't count on it.

I say buy it. Undo all the mods from the current owner, buff it, tune it up, change ALL the fluids especially the trans fluid then drive it and enjoy it. I had mine at the Mustangs Unlimited show last weekend and it attracted a lot of attention. Was the only car there with a shaker hood.

So .. how's the decision process going?

The hood decal is not original, but otherwise looks to be in good shape. Did you drive it yet. The 03/04 Mach 1's have their own personality. I really enjoy driving mine, even if it is an automatic Biggrin .

The $11k is less than you would probably see on a used car dealers lot.

I paid 11K for mine from a dealership so if this is a private sale you can easily get it down to 8K.... now i will say this much as most people and especially car enthusiasts do .... go through it with a FINE TOOTH comb cause if you know you mustangs its easy to find the flaws.... now the value of the 03/04 Mach WILL go up !!! Yes i believe it will and this is not just speculation... look at the production number from the years they were made then get the numbers for the ones still on the road and not totaled in a junkyard ... the numbers for the ones still on the road go down every year and the totaled ones go up every year so YES THE VALUE WILL INCREASE !!!! for example the 69 restored/original mint is around 35k .... that car is 44 years old..... the 03/04 are barely turning 10 ... by the time they are 20 they will jump in value to the mustang enthusiasts.... this is not speculation but more of a historical/mathematical evaluation based on my opinion ;)

I will say that if you have any question in regards to the 03/04 Mach your possibly looking at please let me know ide be more than happy to help
