Weather strip
#1
Ok everyone I am looking for some experience on weather stripping. I am almost done painting my 72 mach 1. So I am getting ready to order all the weather stripping for the entire car. What brand does everyone recommend ? I know there is some import junk out there with poor performance and worse fitment. I only want to do this once and I want to do it right, so any help and previous experience would be GREATLY appreciated. Please let me know what type/brand and where you purchased it. Thanks YLWHRSE

Point blank ask Don from ohio Mustang he'll shoot you straight. He should be along pretty soon, so hang tight and he'll fix you up. I'll keep watching this one cause I'd like to know myself. JTS 71 Mach1

I second JTS' comment above.

Don will steer you straight and the answer will be good information for all of us.

Definitely ask Don, if I'm not mistaken he carries a comprehensive kit that includes everything including the liquid sealer for application.
Good Luck,

I have a kit we put together for 71-3's
beltline is by repops
Everything else is by DCMR in N.C. although they are now doing a lot out of China

There are not choice's on a lot of the parts. A lot of companies put their name on DCMR's parts

Only one I get fit issues on are the door weather-stripping
Do not stretch it when installing. Some guys pull it to tight and it easily stretches

Fastback kit is 279.95
NOT in the kit - but I do have all of it if you need them.
Tail light seals
frt and rear marker light foam seals
door handle and or mirror plastic seals
rear spoiler gaskets

Also just came out are the roofrail channel / rear window channel seal
Item #E3ZZ-7624484
65-73 WEATHERSTRIP SEAL, 12 FT ROLL
Roof rail weatherstrip retainer channel to body seal and other various use. 12 foot roll, 1 inch wide with peel and stick adhesive backing. Price: $15.95

AND body sealant strips - 2 pound box is 20.00

SO VERY COOL Don !! Thanks so much for the reply. I was going to call you and talk about it today, but I spent most of the day in the paint booth and then getting ready to go back to work. I will call you to place the order from work up north. I put a list together including bumpers and front spoiler and may need a few other things. I will default to your expertise so that I can get it all at once and that I don't forget anything. Depending on my work days Don I will talk to you in the next couple of days.

As Don pointed out the door weatherstrip can be an issue. Check out the thread below for the issues I had on my 73 Convertible. I ended up with two sets of the weatherstrip from Danial Carpenter and both were longer that the original factory weatherstrip. DC was great in working with me on the issue and I was told they were going to shorten the weather strip in future runs. This was back in 2011, so not sure what the current stock is like.
