New Suspension and a good omen from Australia
#1
Wanted to address the rock-hard ride quality given by the 4-1/2 leaf, 190 lb. rate springs. I also was of the opinion that there's a tad too much rear wheel well showing:

Replaced the rear springs with stock 138 lb/in rate from Eaton. Big improvement in ride quality, reduced noise and vibration at all speeds. Liking the 1" drop in ride height as well.

Then the front suspension arms came off and replaced with global west tubular arms and strut rods. Kept the coil springs. Swapped in rollerized spring perches. Requires drilling the shock tower for a shaft dropped 1-3/8 in.

The upper arms are asymmetrical so there's 3 deg. caster built in.
Also put factory power steering back on the car after a year of manual.
The front end dropped about 3/4 in.:

Couldn't be more pleased with this setup. Body roll and NVH are reduced. I guess the extra caster helps mitigate the power steering wander.

Took it for alignment and a mild hoonabout, and this guy was waiting in the driveway

It's an Australian Bearded Dragon that somebody let out. Don't know where he came from so I gave him some water and strawberries to munch.

I choose to take his appearance to mean 'There is a set of Australian Cleveland heads in your future' 578254

G'day!

Very nice work and write up.

The new stance looks great.

Poor bloke (the Australia Bearded Dragon). I wonder what his chances are of finding another Aussie mate. Your chances of Aussie Cleveland heads are undoubtedly better!

That car is awesome to say the least. Clap_

It reminds me of the blue 1970 Mach 1 I have been looking for from my high school years for over ten years now.

Your blue dream car is a real beauty.
Id like to see some more photos of the new suspension now that it is done.
