The original Gone in 60 Seconds - 1973 Mustang Mach 1
#1
The original Gone in 60 Seconds came out in 1974 and starred H.B. Halicki and a yellow 1973 Mach 1 named Eleanor. The movie is 91 minutes long; the chase scene lasts 40 minutes.

Insurance investigator Maindrian Pace and his team lead double-lives as unstoppable car thieves. When a South American drug lord pays Pace to steal 48 cars for him, all but one, a 1973 Ford Mustang, are in the bag. As Pace prepares to rip-off the fastback, codenamed "Eleanor", in Long Beach, he is unaware that his boss has tipped off the police after a business dispute. Detectives are waiting and pursue Pace through five cities as he desperately tries to get away.

Gone in 60 Seconds (1974 ) FINAL SCENE!

Toby Halicki was killed while filming a stunt for the sequel, Gone in 60 Seconds 2. Production began with filming the final chase sequence with only a few lines of dialog and a few parts of the chase sequence filmed before his death.

I just took the time to watch the whole movie...and ive already watched it a million times lol.

Just some background on that car. It still runs to this day. There was only one mustang used in that entire film. Supposedly the car had a full roll cage installed for saftey, but I dont see it. I cant remember but i want to say they wrecked 93 cars in the movie, im probably thinking about a differnet movie though.

Loved the movie and the car,Of course i was only 10 when it came out but my Father had a mach and we went and saw it at the local drive in. Been crazy about them since, of course most people don't know that it is actually a 71 cloned to a 73 mach. But either way i love itBig Grin

I may be wrong, but I recall reading that Eleanor was really a 72 Mustang modified to look like a 73. Anyone else heard this.
