My daughter (and I) have owned this 1967 Ranchero for a couple of years but it has been put on the back burner. We were going to rebuild it for her but ended up working on her 1988 Ranger http://mach1club.com/showthread.php?tid=4590
in that she was headed to college in North Dakota and I felt that something with fuel injection and 4X4 would be more appropriate.
Well over the CHRISTmas break we decided to pull it off the back burner and start some work on it. With both my daughter and son here we began floor board replacement. The Ranchero is an original Arizona vehicle and the cowl is good but it must have had a leaky windshield for most of it's life. The pans come in three pieces per side and I will have to make one for the driver's compartment back under the bed so seven pieces in all. So - we are one seventh into the project.
I bought the passenger pieces from Classic2Current and although the metal thickness is good, the quality of the stamp is terrible. More cut and bend than stamp so there is a lot of filling in to be done. They now offer a higher quality at about double the price which I plan to try for the driver's side.
The rest of the car is absolutely rust free. My daughter wants to keep the little six which runs well but change the 3 speed standard to a T-5 5 speed. I plan to pull the motor to clean it up and put new gaskets on it and then repaint it and the engine compartment before putting it back in.
It's still a back burner project but now that it is started I hope to stay with it to complete the floor replacement.
