My car (73 mach) that I bought does not have a head unit in it. I was wondering if any of the aftermarket radios fit in there without any cutting or trimming of the panel itself? I would hate to cut or trim any of the dash to make it fit, however I really want a unit with an aux port or usb for my ipod. Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their old unit to a newer version. Thanks!
P.S. Any pics would be greatly appreciated!

Sony made a head unit (CR-330) that fit in the dash without alteration. It only played cassette tapes but had outputs for an external cd changer (Mine has a Blaupunkt unit) I'm not sure if they still sell them, I'd check with Crutchfields to find out. The other notable option is to mount a cd head unit, but hidden in the glove box. I'm pretty sure in the back few pages of Mustangs Monthly an advertiser offered a nice looking unit with "Mustang" printed right on the cassette door.
Good luck and stay safe.

As far as the Sony CR-330 is concerned, I was mistaken, it will NOT fit without altering the dash. I have one in my 69 Cougar but I DID have to cut the dash. My 72 Mach 1 has an old pioneer super tuner. An excellent radio/cassette receiver, but low powered. (8 watts @ channel rms) needs an external amp. to be really effective at over-powering wind noise.
Good luck & keep your head down...
P.S. It's none of my business, but I was wondering when you expect your deployment to end? Is this your first tour?
Stay safe.

Also: Get on E-bay and check out the old original radios (AM/FM)
There is a few guys that sell these old radios original Ford radios that they installed an "I-pod" connection plug-in port onto them and you can play it through the old original radio.

There are many 'good' amps that have inputs for speaker level power. Also there are units that allow cd/ipod etc to be received as FM radio stations. I have use the cd-radio with great success.
