The car looks great...you must be totally psyched about getting her going again. I am sure you will locate the ground problem with your brake lights. Making a good ground connection can certainly be the problem when your dealing with fresh restoration and a lot new paint.
Good luck and let us know what you come up with on the brake lights.

Well thanks folks.
UPDATE To BRAKE ISSUE: Marker, back-up and tail lights all work fine, turn signals (NOT) and brake lights (NOT). The brake light switch (at the pedal) is really hot to the touch. It is a brand new one so I pulled it and placed the old one back in. Same thing is occurring. Pulled the dash to locate the brake switch relay, Does anyone know where to purchase one of these?

Hey Richard If your brake switch is really hot, you've got a short some where. As for a brake relay I'm not sure it has one. You might want to check the turn signal ring / switch, as the brake and turn signals all go through the signal switch. That could possibly be where your problem is. JTS 71 Mach1

Richard looks good
The getting hot brake light switch ?? Unless the pedal is de-pressed the switch is open. No current flow - can't get hot.
Take your extra switch, plug it in and just leave it hanging / not installed on pedal assy. See what happens then ?
The gasket on the 1/4 panel extensions goes on a lip inside of the extension, you do not see the black seal.

UPDATE!!!
So I replaced the brake switch, turn signal switch (in column) and the two flashers. I now have emergency flashers front and back but no turn signals. With the brake light switch hanging off the pedal I can manually hit the switch and I have brake lights but not when it is installed. According to the wiring diagram the circuit goes through the flashers, turn signal switch, radio, neutral safety switch, to the tail lights. ALL are new.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Don, the manual shows them there but I do not remember seeing them there. I will make the change ASAP with new ones.
Thanks Jack...It has been a long road and I can see the end coming soon. If it was not for finding this site and the help of Don at Ohio Mustangs, I would be far from finished...

Richard, swap the 2 flashers - maybe one is defective?
Next I would think turn signal switch
I don't think it would be the wiring as you have flashers
I have several 73 columns, if you want to come out and barrow a turn signal and or ign switch.
You could just plug them in under the column to test.

Don,
I bought 2 new flashers with the LED lights. Yesterday I went and bought 2 more flashers as I thought that could be the problem. That is when the hazard lights started to work again. I swapped the flashers in the sockets and still no turn, but both new flashers work with the hazard lights. I also have back-up and all marker lights work. The turn signal assembly in the steering wheel is also brand new. I bought an ignition switch but the one the sent me does not fit. Mine has a small upper insert guide. twice I have sent for what they said was correct and both turned out to be non-fitting for the column. I agree the it cannot be the wiring because hazards work. need to find where the two circuits merge and work back from there. Any Ideas!
