Just blew out the heater core
#11

Since you posted in the 69-70 Mach 1 forum I will pop in and comment on this one.

I have a 70 Mach 1 that last winter I did the install of original A/C underdash A/C system into a non-A/C car.
(Basically I put in all original A/C parts into my car.)

Anyhow in the 70 mustang its tight under that dash.
If someone were to tell me that they did it really well in 5 hours I would not believe them. Heck just the cleaning it and dissassembly wil take time as these boxes are expensive and take alot of time to fix cracks on if you screw something up in the process. Not to mention the recharging of the A/C and pulling that long deep 6 hour hour vacuum on the A/C system before the charging with freon.

The biggest thing is protecting that drain hose connection as its really fragile. Get some thick soft foam or an old pile of shop towels / old bath towels to put your heater box on to protect that drain tit. Buy yourself some new clips for the heater box if you are missing any. Peel them off with extreme care as they will crack your case if you just crank on the clips with a screwdriver when opening up the box.SCo_hmmthink
If you havent already done so get a new A/C box seal kit for about $14.00....some need additional trimming to allow all the flappers to work well. I use the 3m (yellow) weatherstrip adheasive to put that foam on the box with.
One additional step I did was to seal all the seams with aluminum tape in addition to the clips.

Take your time.. It will come out better that way.Awes

I'm with you on the 5 hr deal , it looks more like a 2 day project to disasemble and reasemble , not to mention the time to reconditon the box , etc.
