Has anyone actually converted a 3 speed automatic to an overdrive automatic tranny in 71-73 Mustang?
What did you use?
What would you do differently?
Did it increase or decrease overall performance?
Tell us what you know!!

I assume you mean using the later AOD tranny. I do not know anyone that's done the switch but I believe CJ POny parts has the parts to do the swap of they can do the work also.

That would be awesome to take it to them, if they weren't 2000 miles away from where I live!
But I will call them and see what they know. Thxs.
Im hoping to find someone thats actually done it and to see what they would do different.

CJ pony parts lists a crossmember for 71-73 for an AOD but not a kit like they list for 64-70 Mustangs.

A good C6 is very beefy add a good overdrive to it . Most of the AOD,s tend to brack much easyer . The inside,s of the AOD have big problems with brackage . If you are going to have one built up maybe it can stay together . If you plain on hard runs put some good money down to have the trans built rigth . You could even save your leg . C . L .
