I just installed a new GM style HEI in my 72 Mach1 351cj. I had no problem hooking up the hot wire. I am, however, having more trouble isolating (and then hooking up) the tach wire. I was hoping someone would know what color the tach wire is and what reading it should show with a volt/ohm meter?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I have the perfect website for your questions.
I am not sure but I believe that those tach wires are "PINK"
They can be identified by the wire reading along the wire:...It says ...."do not cut" on the wire along its entire length.
It is also usually shielded with a covering.
On my 1970 car, the resistance reading is supposed to be at 1.8 ohms on the length of the wire.
Here is a great source of info for general stuff.
Although he only works on earlier stuff, his website is great for troubleshooting.

Here is another as well that may help you.
