I installed an MSD ignition and I'm having trouble getting the stock Tach to read.
Do I have to install some type of adapter for the stock tach to read the signal from the MSD?

Yes, you will need an adapter.

You're going to need a msd 8920 tach adapter ( $59 on summit).
I actually just wrapped up wiring up my tach adapter a couple hours ago. Fired up on the first try, and worked. Now I just have to find a permanent spot to mount it. Move over solenoid.
It wired up pretty easy, heres a couple item that helped me:
I had to find the trigger wire from the tachometer (it used to go to the coil but I lost track of it) its red with a blue or green stripe.
The white wire on the adapter makes up to the grey wire on the 6AL (tach output). The directions dont clearly call out the grey wire.
hope this helps.
