how many 69 351-2V 3-speed
#1
Our Mach 1 has a 351-2V with a 3-speed manual. This was the base Mach 1 package in 69. At shows people tell me that must be rare as they have never seen a Mach 1 with a 3-speed. Any body have any information on this or a Marti report telling how many were configured this way?

Interesting thought!

A three speed Mach 1 just has to be a rare breed. Someone will have the answer - I guessing Ohio Mustang Don for sure.

I was always curious about that myself. I owned a 1970 Mach 1 back in 2005 that was a 351W 3 speed manual. I had some people tell me it had to be after market because no Mach 1 came with a 3 speed. Of course they were wrong, but I always wondered how many were made. Funny thing is I got a Marti report for my 70 but I don't remember looking to see how many were produced.

Yeah I was kinda wondering how many myself, now that you ask. I've seen quite a few through the years and almost bought one. But It definetly wasn't the most popular way they came, Hmmmm? JTS 71 Mach1

I don't know how many, but mine was that config until it reached the dealer and was dealer swapped to a 4 speed.

Hello Bob, according to "Mustang - By The Numbers" a publication by Kevin Marti, production numbers for 1969 mustangs equipped with the 351-2V and 3-speed manual transmission break down as follows:
Hardtop - 1,142 units , fastback (including mach 1's) - 5,693 units , and convertibles, - 126 units. Although I can't provide an exact number for mach 1's only, I did do some research and found that approximately 75% of fastback production for 1969 were mach 1's - So, roughly around 4270 units. (New to the public in 1969, mach 1's were super popular) You would have to get a Marti Report for an exact number. GXR

That agrees with the numbers I got in another forum. According to that poster, the deluxe Marti report does not break it down by Mach 1.
The production numbers for 69 show 56,022 of 63A standard sportsroof, 5,958 of 63B deluxe sportsroof and 72,458 of 63C Mach 1. This is a total of 134,438 sports roofs. Thus the 5,693 H-code 3spd is only 4% of the total sportsroof production for 69. I'm guessing there were more standard sportsroofs with 3spds than Mach 1s.
