Ford is out for Camaro blood with the 2013 Mustang. Refreshed (again), the 2013 Ford Mustang is the latest in a series of updates that began when this generation musclecar debuted for the 2005 model year. This time, dynamic and functional improvements happen in the same year. If it didn’t already, does the new 2013 Ford Mustang have what it takes to regain the sales title from the Chevrolet Camaro?
Take a close look at the front of the new 2013 Mustang and you may see what will be far more apparent in person: the front grille has been tweaked to look more aggressive. A re-sculpted hood and standard HID headlights make an impression, as well.
From the side, the rocker panels are now body-colored for the 2013 Ford while there are new 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheel styles. The taillights have noticeably changed, with the white strips replaced and smoked lenses on the new Mustang. Another easy way to distinguish a 2012 Mustang from a 2013 Mustang is the newer car’s standard black trim between the new taillights.
The interior changes aren’t easily found in these photos, but we can tell you two sound systems have been upgraded and Recaro seats are available on the V-6 and GT models. Oh, and the coolest design element on the 2013 Mustang? Definitely the pony projection lights on the side mirrors: when you hit the key’s unlock button, a Mustang emblem shines on the ground.
