Very good article. Simple basic trouble shooting principles. That are so easy to forget, when your on the side of the road in the dark and don't have your tools! So i put a nickel along the side of an old glass style fuse. It worked I had lights! About 10 miles up the road, POOF the whole car filled with smoke at 70 mph. I got the car stopped and reached into the fuse block to pull the nickle out and burnt the @%#^&^$^&( out of my poor little fingers (dumbass). Needless to say I couldn't pull the nickle out. After a few minutes, the smoke cleared and all was fine. I guess whatever was shorted, melted the insulation and covered the bare spot as it never happened again! All I could do was suck on my poor little fingers!
