My New 2011 F150 Platinum 4x4
#1
Ive been driving a 08 Lincoln Navigator the past 3 years. It was costing me a fortune, nearly 1100 a month. So when I reached the halfway point on payments on any vehicle I usually always start looking for whether or not my trade in can be payed off if I did trade it in. Well as luck would have it, I was able to get into a bad ass 2011 F150 loaded, with every single option I could ever want, and at a savings of nearly 500 per month!!
It had 6 miles on it when it left the lot last night! No this isn't the Ecoboost, I don't care what torque it has, in my mind its still a V6 I had to have the 5.0! Going to make a few mods to this for performance like exhaust and Air box but its pretty much going to stay the way it is. I hear if I add another intake it will produce like another 65 HP, but 360 currently is good enough for me. This is the family mobile.

What type of MPG figures do they claim?

P.S. Don't forget to change your signature!

Gas mileage has not been that impressive yet. City driving has been 12 so far. I have read that it takes about 2000 miles to get the truck broke in to see mileage increases. This F150 has a 36 gallon tank. When the dealership filled it for me it had 536 miles until empty Sign0175 That will be about the only time this truck will be full. I don't hardly ever take long trips anymore beyond 200 miles or so. I would think adding 36 gallons of fuel is heavy so I doubt for my normal driving Id add more that 40 bucks at a time.

Thanks! The color choices for me were Ingot Silver or White Pearl. With my Sterling gray Mustang and my wife's black Mercedes I have enough cars to detail. However the darker interior I can see will be a pain since I have a white Siberian Husky that loves to shed by the minute, and yes he gets to ride in this as well.

Thanks! I will be doing minor towing, only pulling my quads on occasion from our house in the mountains back to Phoenix for service repairs. So towing will be maybe 5% work of this truck. I'm hoping it gets at least one work out down the road pulling my new Mach home one day!!

How has life with the new F-150 Platinum been? Has you economy improved any?

Yesterday I was able to drive a new 2012 Raptor. Very nice. Not that I am in the market and I expressly told the salesman that but he was happy to let the whole family take a spin in the truck.

I recently read a Motor Trend article that showed their tested MPG figures between the 5.0 and the Ecoboost to be within .4 MPG of one another. Seems to me like I'd take the V8 everyday of the week if that proves to be true.

The comfortable factor in the crew cab for my family was a nice feature. I am not sure what the numbers are between the new F-150's and my F-350 crew cab but it seemed every bit as roomy. Nice trucks to be sure.

Love the truck, however mileage doesn't seem to be its strong point, could still be break in miles needed since the truck only has 1200 miles on it and I'm just getting ready to do its first oil change. Its an extremely comfortable vehicle. I just got the LineX spray in bedliner yesterday and it actually made the truck seem more quiet. I have no complaints even though I did already have to take it in for service for a dead battery issue at 1000 miles, turned out to be a ACM module that was causing the truck not to shut down electronically completely. It might have been caused by me since I never unplug my phone usb charger and it could have created an issue, either way its fixed now and seems fine. Full warranty makes life easier to deal with.

The bad thing about the new Stang and new Truck is I wont be in the market again for awhile. Part of me getting new vehicles is the chase that I love the most. Biggrin
