HEI...FACTORY TACH...
#1
I have a 72 Mach 1 351cj. The factory distributor has been replaced with a very early MSD HEI. It is part of a system that includes a cockpit adjustable timing device, +/- 15 degrees. I don't like the set-up and I'm considering replacing all of it with a GM style 1 wire HEI. My question is that I'm wondering if the factory tach could be adapted to this system. If not, a second alternative would be to install a factory style breaker/point distributor with the addition of a "Petronix" style upgrade. I'm more concerned with ease of installation and smooth function than maintaining an original looking system. Any ideas, advice, or critical remarks are encouraged.
Thanks a bunch
Keith S.

69 jimmach is right there should be no problem hooking the factory tach to the hei as all it is is a sencing wire. It simply counts the pulses. JTS 71 Mach1
