i have a stock '70 mach1 351 2v and i'm thinking of changing the setup to a 4V intake, 4bbl carb and light cam (i'd of course keep the orig setup). would you recommend the change? if so what recommendation do have for new 4V setup? tx in advance for your thoughts. JA
btw it's a one owner california car that's bone stock.

My guess is that if you have a 4 speed manual in that car with a 4V head set from the 1970-71 "quench chambered" will help in the higher RPM bands. While your 2V heads are the way to go for more mid range power with an Automatic tranny.
Its been stated on many websites and discussion boards, that the 4 barrel intakes will work great on the 2v heads with no problems, even with the mis-matched port sizes.
If expense is a concern, then I would simply bolt on a stock 4 barrel manifold which will give you a cheap 35 horsepower with the Holly 780. Regardless of port mismatch). Use the paper type manifold gaskets sold by Mr Gasket. as a recommendation" according to Ford guru and author.. "Pat Ganal", author of Ford Performance. "Pg 85). Pat states that if you want the 780 from Ford you want the D3zz-9510-E for stick shift cars and the DOOF-9510-R for automatics. Pat Ganahl states that the 780 with the dual plane intake is a good recommendation for all- around street performance with something like the Cobra Jet Hydraulic cam.
