I have a 72 mach 1. It is red with the lower body and hood being black. Usually when I see pics of machs, the sport mirrors are painted body color. Mine however, are black. Which is "correct"?
Thanks,
Keith

Body color is normal but I am not sure if there may have been an option. Someone on the site will know for sure. I will be interested to know myself.

The sports mirrors on a mach1 is the same color as the car was ordered . The black could be from another car or after market . The drivers mirror should be remote . C . L .

I agree, should be body color. Maybe a previous owner wanted the mirrors to match the black trim on the body. I like going with the body color, but Mustangs are made to be modified, so do it the way you like it unless you are going to do a concurs restoration!

Thanks for the input, when I do a total repaint I think I will paint them red (body color). For now the black looks ok, a little research should reveal if they are originals or repops.
Thanks to one and all!

When you strip them maybe you will find the original body color!

Originals should have ford script and part #'s cast into mounting base underside.
