Official Build - '70 Chevelle + '00 Corvette = '70 CheVette
#1
Its time to share our new project. After finishing the restoration last summer on a '70 396 we decided we needed to do something with the left over parts & parts car. My neighbor and I got the idea to see if we could combine a 2000 Vette and a 1970 Chevelle. We have been working on the transformation for the last couple months so we thought it was time to share it with everyone. Feel free to ask any questions, and if you have some ideas please feel free to give them to us. Hopefully you all enjoy the pictures of out process so far.

This is basically what we started with:

Our original pictures of the corvette chassis got lost so these were borrowed from the Internet. Hopefully we can find them and I will post them.

Now the fun begins :)

Why are you guys doing this?? Seems like a massive amount of work. The body on the Chevelle looks like its toast! Notallthere

I definitely cant wait to see the finished product.

Why not :) Gotta do something with our spare time. The body was a perfect body to use for this project. The amount that we cut out of it would have been a shame with a rust free body. Every panel is available and you will see in upcoming pictures we have them all :)

Looks great.

By the way: GM already made a Chevette (wasn't that great) Laughing Nothing wrong with trying to show them what it was suppose to be like.

Really, I like it. Just jealous that I do not have that kind of time to put into my Mach 1. Please keep the post coming as I for one will be following your build to the finish.

Question: Is the height of the body to chassis your final height and if so what is your purpose of staying up so high? How is your width working for you and do you propose to use the Corvette dash?

All the best with the project.

We will be using all Corvette interior (shown in the next bath of pictures) The frame is actually about the same distance out as the original '70 chevelle. Just the Chevelle is set back alittle more so its not in the open as much. When the build is done the frame should be around 5" from the ground so the frame will be hidden pretty well.

Amazing Matt, cant say Id do it, but the finished product will be impressive. What do you think the total cost involved in all of this will be by the time you guys get done? Your labor of love cant be counted, but for parts and supply's?
