my daily driver...

Has the transmission held up for all those miles? I was going to post a picture of my bicycle but I don't have one. That and my 1999 GMC van (227,000 and counting) are our normal daily drivers here in Mexico.

The transmission is holding up fine (knock on wood); I've only changed the trans fluid once since we bought it, probably time to do it again. Still has the original alternator and starter too. Just some repairs over the years to the oxygen sensors, replaced catalytic converters once, and a wiper motor under warrenty.

Kewl D.Driver :)
Think you will ever retire it from D.Driving and put it through a restoration?

My everyday vehicle is a '93 Chev 4X4, would love to drive something kewler but too many butt heads out there that love giving door dents

WowMatt, you've got an awesome 70 mach 1! Wow that rotissery is the way to go for a ground up resto! How long did the complete resto take? Personally I don't see myself ever doing a every nut and bolt resto. It's just over my head as far as the skills required. My 72 Mach 1 is very solid so I don't see myself taking it down all the way. Eventually I will need to do a fairly complete resto on my daily driver,(69 cougar) but the suspension is good, so I'll probably install front disc brakes and then get into the body work. That project is a ways down the road, for now I'm just going to drive it. Your Mach 1 is awesome a real gem!

Thanks for the great comments. The restoration was done on my Mach back in 98. I actually purchased it after all the fun was almost done. Would have been great to experince it but its alot of work, time and money. U probably have more fun with your car the way it is, least you aren't worried about getting a mark on it. Amazing how many people re-do a car that they used to enjoy and when they are done they hate it and never drive it. I've put about 30,000 miles on my '70 but every year it seems its less and less due to being afraid of getting it hurt.

Wow I see your point and I fully agree. To some collectors it's all about keeping their car perfect. I wouldn't be happy with a trailer queen, but they are beautiful, almost a time capsle of the "good ole' days". Personally I love driving my cars, though when the snow flies I'll park my driver and drive my old pick-up truck. I think you might be living in the best of both worlds. You've got an awesome Mach1, that surely has won it's share of trophies, but your not afraid to drive it! Good job!!
Keep the shiny side up,
Keith
