We have a choice:
WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON..
Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? In addition, they are gouging us on oil prices.
Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit?
An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid pu tting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank, I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my family and my friends dead.
The following gas companies IMPORTMiddle Eastern oil:
Shell..................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco..................... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil......................... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway.............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco.................................. 62,231,000 barrels
And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates America and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)
The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC. If you do the math at $100 per barrel, that's over $550 million PER DAY ($200 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!! It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep buying their product.
Here are some large companies that DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil:
Sunoco..........................0 barrels
Conoco...........................0 barrels
0ASinclair.....................0 barrels
BP / Phillips................ 0 barrels
Hess...............................0 barrels
ARC0............................0 barrels
Maverick.......................0 barrels
Flying J........................0 barrels
Valero..........................0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA.....***0 barrels ***
***Sold at Wal-Mart , gas is from South Arkansas and fully USA owned and produced. ***Not only that but they give scholarships to all children in their town who finish high school and are legal US citizens..
All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

No offense, guys, but I've seen the pictures of the Audi before and it's not really silver. Here's a description of it from snopes.com:
http://www.snopes.com/photos/automobiles/silveraudi.asp
The "house" also looks familiar. (Urban legends are a hobby of mine.) I wouldn't be surprized if that description is also inaccurate.
As for where to buy gas, sorry, but again those figures don't reflect reality. In truth, almost all oil imports to the US come from Mexico, Canada and Venezuela. And it's pretty much impossible to know where the gas you're pumping came from. Petroleum is an international commodity. It's not branded gasoline until it's refined and then custom additives are added for particular gasoline companies. There's no way to know where the refinery got the raw crude at any particular time.
Furthermore, even if we did know where the oil that made the gas came from, it wouldn't make any difference if we stopped buying certain brands. The only person we'd be punishing is the station owner. Again, oil is an international commodity. The price floats based on international demand and investor speculation. No matter who's gas we buy, we're still buying it and that makes the demand the same.
The only realistic way to fight high gasoline prices is to use less of it. Less demand will equate to lower prices. But even that goes only so far when you consider places like India and China are demanding more and more energy all the time.

Thanks Klutch,
Okay so the gas information is dated - glad to get it caught up to date. According to the article you refered us to Sunoco and Sinclair still do not buy Arabian oil.
True, almost all of our oil is purchased internationally and it is an international commodity but each dollar still reaches some destination. I would much rather have that dollar going to say Canada and if I could I would send it to Alaska!

Great discussion! Thanks Klutch for your updates/insights. I buy most of my gas from Sheetz or WaWA here in Virginia. I didn't see them on the list.

Good point, Steven. But even if Sunoco and Sinclair don't buy Arab oil, that doesn't mean the gas in their tanks contains no Arab oil. Sinclair doesn't run their own, exclusive refineries. They share the refineries like all the other oil companies do. Gasoline is pumped from refineries throughout the country via underground pipelines. In this pipeline system, it all mixes until it gets to a distribution point. Then the individual gasoline trucks line up and get their specified blend of gasoline. Again, this is why it isn't branded gasoline until it's put into the gas truck.
Arab nations are going to reap obscene profits from oil as long our planet is fueled by petroleum. It doesn't matter if we buy Arab oil or France buys Arab oil. The Sheiks don't car. The fact is America consumes gargantuan amounts of diesel and gasoline. This pushes up demand, and therefore international prices, which fills the bank accounts of all oil producing nations.
Some people say America should just stop importing oil and use our own petroleum resources. But the fact is those resources, which may seem like they're huge, could not fuel America for a very long time. Then, after a couple of years, all the US petroleum would be used up and we'd have to import 100% of our oil.
I graduated high school in Oklahoma. I lived on an 80-acre spread that had an oil well. ARCO drilled it, pumped it for awhile, then capped it. That's what companies do with almost all the wells in Texas and Oklahoma these days. The wells are small and remote. The crude must be hauled via truck, which is expensive. They also must haul water to the site to force out the oil. This is also expensive. Last I heard, unless gasoline goes to about $4.00 a gallon, it's a money losing operation. So the wells sit capped. When oil prices get really high, they start pumping those wells. When it drops, they cap them again. After all, oil companies are in business to make money.
In case anyone might be interested, here is a link to a brief article about gasonline distribution in the US:
http://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/index...line_where
Note the use of the word "commingling". This describes the fact that gasoline mixes from different sources as it's pumped across the country.
It's actually kinda cool how this is done. They'll pump a few million gallons of gasoline. Then they'll insert this big, rubber plug. Then they'll pump a few million gallons of diesel. Then they add another another plug and pump some kerosene. And so on. There is a little bit of of mixing between these fuels at the end. But the amounts are so small compared to what's sitting in the tanks it makes no difference.
Those rubber plugs travel through the pipes like a subway car. I recall there was a James Bond movie where Bond actually rides inside a special version of such a plug and travels via pipeline. Sorry, can't recall which Bond movie it was. I'm pretty sure it was a Roger Moore Bond movie.

Um I think the point of the whole thing regardless of snopes or urban legend, is that these sheiks are languishing in hug profits while we as Americans are paying 4.00 a gallon for gas. I just paid 4.25 pg for Shell super unleaded There's no reason for anyone to be paying these profits and to be helping these greedy bastards have houses like this is nuts. Ive been to Dubai so I know houses like this exist.
The bottom line, drive less when possible.

I remember that Bond Movie, The World Is Not Enough, with Pierce Bronson. The pipeline scene was pretty good.

I completely agree. Driving less and using less gas is the solution. I haven't been to Dubai, but I know such houses do exist. I've also been watching the progress for "Dubai Land". Sheesh, that's a resort that makes Disney seem like a travelling carnival.
I didn't mean to say you were wrong about the insane profits being made by oil producing nations. I was just pointing out some of the facts describing the pictures weren't completely accurate. Then I wanted to point out that buying gas from some stations and not buying it from others really doesn't make much difference.

Thanks for the correction. I really like those Bond Movies. I should pick up DVD set. I always catch them in pieces on "BBC America".

Its all good man!! I'm not mad or upset in anyway. Gotta be careful so words don't get in the way.
I had the chance to go to Dubai when we were thinking about buying a 5000 sq ft condo there about 7 years ago for rental purposes. Dubai at the time was a massively growing population that has slowed tremendously since that time. We are extremely glad we did not make that move. One of my business partners has lost about 10million there.
