71 hood pins

Does anyone know where the bottom bolt on the hood pin bracket on rad support goes? Is it suppose to go in the slotted hole? These hood pins were installed by the guy that painted my car and he doesnt have them in the slotted hole. The bracket is sitting level on top and it seems like it needs to be sloped a little bit to the front of the car to match the slope of the hood. My pins never sit flush in the hood. They always seem to stick up a little in the front. makes me think that if the bracket on rad support was sloped down they would sit flush?? If anyone can help let me know. Or if anyone has a pic of how their bracket is bolted to rad support that would be great too! Thanks everyone. Kevin
