I never washed my Mach 1 with water or any of my special cars. I always use warm water and microfiber towels.
I'm confused, do you use water or not. LOL
On a side note, I washed my Mach with water 1 time and that was the first summer I owned it (summer of 2004). I never drive it in the rain so it never gets dirty. I do clay bar it once a year and I use detail spray when I do it.

We are anxious to see yours completed as well. Be sure to post pictures along the way.

Thanks. Can't wait to see yours all done up. What wheels did you go with? Did you get the louvers for the rear window? That's gonna be my next purchase. I think it really sets these cars off.

Yes, I'm going with the rear window louvers....my marti report shows it came with very few options, so I've added the front spoiler, hood blackout, rear window louvers & full center console. For this year I'm staying with the wheels that were on it when I purchased it last year, even though I like the magnum 500's better. If I make a change, it'll be to the 500's. I can only hope mine will look half as good as yours.

Wow that thing looks good!!!! I had those same rims on my car a few years ago before i went to the torq thrust d's. You have a great start! Im looking to get a center console for mine also. Im also looking to get the pop open gas cap. Mine has the reg twist off for some reason. I dont think the louvers ever came from the factory. I believe you had to buy them afterword. I think you could buy them from the dealer back then and have them installed after the car arrived from the factory, but the factory never put them on the 71-73's. This is what i have been told. If i am wrong let me know guys. NOT REALLY sure! But they do look great on the 71-73's. IMHO

I think you're right, Kevin. I'm pretty sure the louvers were a Ford option only in 1969 and 1970.

You're right, they were an option.....I owned a new 69 Mach and had them installed....they were illegal in Pa at the time, and everytime a cop saw me, they gave me a ticket....I used to have to unscrew them and put them in the back seat....one time comming back from college, three Pa state troopers all at the same time pulled me over in York, Pa.

i wonder if it is still like that in pa?? I live about 50 miles north of pittsburgh and plan on running louvers this summer. surely the cops have something better to do than mess with a guy just cruising on the weekend!! Like catching actual bad guys out there. O well we will see how it goes.
