73 electrical gremlin
#31
I was wiping the dust off some of the compo nets under the hood of my 73 about two weeks ago and also took the distributor cap off and cleaned the rotor. When I tried to start it would turn over, but not fire. After pulling the cap again and checking everything, still would not start. It turned one of the small wires on top of the coil was loose. May be worth checking yours.

I took the wire off ignition coil to distributor plenty of spark there. Checked fuel filter and hose and its dry as a bone. Put a few gallons of gas in it just to be sure and rechecked filter input output and still dry as bone. Going tocheck fuel pump next...

I just wanted to finish up this thread and thank everyone for your advice. I fixed the electrical gremlin and also found the source of why she wouldn't start. Bad fuel pump...i replaced that yesterday and she started right up. After a bit of tweaking with the timing and carb she's sounding pretty darn good!

Thanks everyone for your help! I truly enjoy this site!

There isn't anything in this world that can't be fixed. If you stay diligent and don't give up. Congrats on fixing both problems! Thmbsup JTS 71 Mach1

One last thing, at any time using any wiring holes can and will leave a hole in the wiring no matter how small. This is how the water into a lot of time and short circuit in wiring.
