I just bought a pert III ignition system , was wondering if onyone else knows much about this unit ? I also keep hearing about this pink wire that i have to replace from the ign sw to the coil; Is there a easier way or is this the only way ?

Well I installed the Pertronix Ignition unit and never did find that Pink wire Fords wiring Diagram shows . After much searching , I found the wire I needed to change out and low and behold it was red and green !
So you can not always depend on the colors ford says they are to be .
Note my car was build 1st month of 69 and maybe they were using a differant color then , who knows.

I am hoping that the wife was okay with the change in the red and green wire. Crazy

I have seen two differant wiring diagrams for the 69 Mach , both differant when it comes to the how wire to the coil and yet neither of them says anything about a tach ? But I figured it out and all is well.

Up date on the wiring issue discussed here. The reproduction wiring diagrams show the pink wire , however I also have a haynes Mustang general service book , I looked up the wiring diagram for the coil and they show exactly what i found , a red and green wire. Which is what I found in my car. So I would suggest to anyone who has a wiring issue to double check , things arn';t always as they are presented.

So is everything back to running? What are your thoughts on the whole process other than being thrown off by incorrect wire colors?

The car is running very well thank you and as for installation of the new ignition unit , I would recommend it to anyone , easy install . I can't believe I waited this long to change out the old point system. If there is a down side , it would be to have a extra set availible in case this one should fail , with the system costing over $100.00 , having a spare set will tie up good money but it's certainly is better than being stranded some where away from home.
