Does anyone have any information on how to decode the build sheet for 1972 Mach 1? What are the color abbreviations? A daub or a stripe? etc. All help appreciated.
Thanks, Chuck

Thanks for trying but the info I'm after is assembly code paint daub and stripe markings on parts. Example from build sheet: Row G, STEERING AND LINKAGE, PITMAN, block 25,has an A. What color does A stand for? Is it a stripe or a daub? I think A=azure=blue but not certain. I know this my sound like OCD but, I have a huge amount of time in this restoration and I need to get the assembly markings right.
Thanks for your help,
Chuck

Chuck,
I spoke with Bob Perkins over the phone several months ago and he had some insight and guidance. It may be worth a call to him. Next time I go to WI to see family I plan to go over to his shop in Juneau with my build sheet in hand. Probably won't be until this summer so a call to him will be more timely. If I recall correct the letter codes are colors and Bob can provide a breakdown. I can also PM to you a couple of build sheets that I have referenced against mine for comparison. My sheet shows Y Y under the front stabilizer bar. My bar has two yellow stripes on the centerline of the bar. My driveshaft has 4 boxes with LA R DG in the first three. These reference Lavender, Red, Dark Green as the three colors mid way down the shaft. It becomes a little of a sleuthing game, but that is why we take on these restorations. This is some of the infor I have been able to gather so far. As you know, still way off from puttin g the research to use with putting things back together.

Brian, Please send me whatever you have and are willing to take the time to send. I have some of the color codes figured out, others baffle me. What color does N stand for? I'm not against sleuthing. I've just been doing it too much of it on this car. The 1969 GT 350 I did several years ago was a lot easier to figure out and find the correct parts and markings. I suppose that is an apples and oranges comparison.
Thanks for your help,
Chuck

I beleive N may stand for none or nothing. It appears as though each box represents a marking on the related component. For example if the section of the build sheet has 3 boxes like the rear springs box does and has G G N like mine. I am guessing that you should have two green stripes on the spring and no third. As I do not have my original springs any longer I can only make this assumption. I am just now starting to get through to the cleaning and detailing of my parts while the car is getting the metal work done. I guess I can try and validate this on my front springs with N P listed. I should only be able to find a pink stripe if anything.

I found two different copies of my build sheets for my 73 Mustang Convertible when I took the carpeting out back in 1974 to rustproof the flooring. If any of my codes are the same as yours just ask and I can may be able to tell you what the code refers to on my car.

Thanks Brian. You must be right about "N" meaning nothing. Chuck
