"MACH 1 CLUB" - 2006 MUSTANG GT PROJECT
#1
Ive begun the start of building my 2006 GT. Since I don't have a Mach 1 I still wanted to show the progress I make as it moves along, this will have a Mach 1 look to it, especially with the install of the CDC Shaker Hood Scoop. It was a little scary cutting through the hood, but the template and instructions I got before the install made it a breeze. The biggest thing to do when installing this hood scoop is to TAKE YOUR TIME, it can only be right once! No redo's! My buddy Mark actually cut the hole since hes a carpenter, turned out perfect!

This will be my journal as I move along on the customizing of the 2006 Mustang GT.

Looks like it is off center about an 1/4 inch! Just kidding, looks good. Awesome

Ya we measured about 100 times to be positive!

You have about a quarter of an inch leeway because of the trim ring that goes on the hood, but Id say we are very nearly perfect, it looks like a factory install.

The pins that hold the hood mat on are toast so those need to be replaced to finish everything and the CAI isn't installed yet. A few parts for the shaker got lost in the mail so I gotta wait til I get those before this is really complete.

I'm thrilled looks awesome! Jam

Not Bad, Not bad at all. SSig_number1 Takes balls to go cutting on your own hood, I worked in a Freightliner Truck dealership for several years. I mounted mirrors, air foils, wings, bug shields, etc. No problem! Then I bought my 2008 Mustang and was scared to death to mount the Roush hood scoop I bought off ebay. Even though I had the install kit, template and lots of experience, there's something about cutting on your own hood that scares the shit out of you!!!Crazy

Looks good. A buddy of mine that is in our mustang club has an '06 GT with that shaker set-up. He painted the shroud under the shaker hood body color and it looks real sweet. Might be something you want to look into. Here is a pic of his car and you can somewhat see how he has his painted.

Great pics! I'm going to do something over time. Just gotta watch the cash. This fixing and customizing gets expensive!

What I'm surprised with is how much more power and grunt the car has, Id say this added 10-15 horses, and what it did was totally change the sound of the car!
Now I just need money to paint the chin spoiler the Cpanel window covers, and the duck tail spoiler. Foose Legend Wheels coming as soon as I can afford them!

Ill be at Barrett Jackson all day! 1022

Got my new tires and rims, my cpanel scoops and my front spoiler and rear duck tail spoiler painted and added to the car. Its coming along! Thought Id show a updated photo, I know its not a Mach 1 so no booing and hissing please! Rofl
I also added the Ford Racing Lowering kit dropped it about 1 inch all the way around.

Also I added BFG KDW2 they rode like Sh^t!!

So I went back to Discount Tire and swapped them out for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. They are way better in my book regarding ride comfort. The BFG KDW2's were noisy and they picked up ever single piece of dirt off the road, I gained this knowledge with about 30 miles of driving.

The Michelin's are not cheap but with a 45k mile warranty they are great tires so far. Just thought Id stick this out there, when I used tirerack.com the reviews seemed pumped up in my opinion. I have heard the KDWs are great for roasting at the track but not so great for street driving, I AGREE!!! In my short time of driving with the tires it felt like the rear tires weren't gaining traction very well.

The KDWs are not even in the same league as the Michelin's.

Notice my Mach 1 theme? Roxor
