Boss 302 Question
#1
Hi,
I was searching the Boss 302 and noticed on a lot of Boss 302's had the 70 Mach 1 body and the 69 Front end. Then I saw other Boss 302's in just a 69 or 70 body. Why do i find the Boss 302 fitted with a 70 rear and a 69 front? Are they a fake?
Thanks for all reply's.........
Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

I have also seen what you are talking about and have seen many 69 sportsroof cars without the scoops on the side the tail lights say it all.
69s are outties and 70s are innies.SCo_hmmthink

Bosses in 69 had no side scoops ,Only 69 Mach1s and Fastbacks in 69 had 1/4 panel side scoops

You could get a 69 Boss with side scoops, it depended on what engine package you ordered, from what i have seen 351 engines and bigger did have the scoops,i think a lot have been cloned

In 1969 only the 302 and 429 Boss was made..Ford introduced both the Boss 302 and Boss 429.
The Boss was based off of the SportsRoof body, but the simulated side scoops were deleted from the 302 model.

I found the information here.

Non-BOSS 302 69 "sportsroof" Mustangs always had the side scoops, mach1, GT, six cylinder, even the BOSS 429 had the scoops.

The 69-70 Shelby had extended scoops, placed where the 69 scoops were installed. The cars for the 70 Shelby were purchased in 69.

Sounds like a challenge going on here.
"In our opinion the most exciting addition was the Boss 302, which was a fastback with a high-performance version of the 302 V8 engine. The exterior featured side striping, a partially blacked-out hood, front air dam, a rear spoiler, and no side scoop on its rear fenders. For more information on the Boss 302, visit their web site." This is all quoted from another site.

This also follows what you are saying 2004 Mach1
