There’s something enchanting about a grown man blithely blasting down a suburban street on his homemade electric go kart. Don’t believe me?

George Fortin earned some fame last year when he posted videos of his first electric creation, an electric go kart with enough torque to crumple it’s bicycle wheels. Now he’s back with a new creation—the Z-Kart. It’s a stronger, faster, and all around more awesome version of the original.

It wears motorcycle tires on aluminum sand rail rims, has independent rear suspension, and dual inboard disc brakes from a racing go kart. It uses a pivot-style front suspension like a ride-on lawn mower. It’s powered by a Briggs & Stratton electric motor from a ride-on floor polisher and can hit 40 miles per hour in just a few seconds. It is, as you’ll see from the videos, a complete blast.

Fortin built the first kart with his son. He describes it as a kind of full-size remote-control car. It worked well, but its bicycle wheels disintegrated under acceleration and cornering forces. The Z-Kart was built with durability in mind. It has a beefy plastic frame and aluminum suspension
bits.

Fortin keeps releasing videos of his antics on the Z-Kart to giddy gear heads the world over. Pretty Damn awesome!
