Led by truck sales up 34%, Ford Motor's sales for its Lincoln, Ford and marked-for-death Mercury brands rose 24% in November over the month a year ago.
Sales of car models rose 25%, and Ford already has sold more Fusions this year than in any previous full year. Sales of the company's crossover utilities lagged the overall increase, with sales up 13%. Year-to-date, cars are up 18%, utilities up 15% and trucks up 29%.
Ford sold 147,388 vehicles in November and year-to-date has sold 1.74 million, up 21% over the period in 2009. Ford also says its on track to gain market share again this year, as it did in 2009, and says it would be the first time its gained share in two consecutive years since 1993.
Vehicle highlights:
* The tiny Fiesta sold 3,473 in November and has sold more than 18,000 sales since its summer launch.
* Sales of the on-its-way-out current Focus still were up 28%. The new Focus is due early spring.
* Fusion sales were 28% and year-to-date sales of of 196,590 have already passed its previous full-year peak last year.
* Sales of the Fusion-based Lincoln MKZ were up 48%, with the new hybrid (a Drive On favorite) now accounting for one in five sales.
* Sales of the F-Series pickup were up 26%.
