I've had mixed satisfaction from most parts houses. Many of the reproduction parts are poor quality, poor fitment, and don't look like original parts. Some parts are only produced by one manufacturer so no matter who you buy from it is the same part. A good example is rear window moldings, absolute junk! The only manufacturer is dynacorn so they are all junk. Ohio Mustang Supply has a focus on 71-73 Mustangs and will tell you the truth about the quality of the pieces. Don, the owner, has restored several 71-73 Mustangs and is very helpful. Don't over look your neighborhood parts store as a source for common parts.
Good Luck and Have Fun,
Chuck
yea after, i spent some time drawing and planning and while i was fixing the power steering and such. i beileve red would be the best and im planning on sticking with the black interior also.and thanks for letting me know this. quick question, would a reproduction ram air be a good addition to the engine? im thinking of getting one for performance boost. and ill be sure to post some pics when i get back to NY

I don't think ram air would warrant the cost from the small gain you'd receive.
If your looking for the cool factor then ram air is another way to go!
If it were me Id do everything else you plan to do and then maybe add ram air as the last thing.

I suggest that you pull those plastic cowl vent screens off and take a good look toward each fender with a flashlight before you get too deep into that car.
Those areas a very prone to rust and there are no patch panels made.
But, they can be fixed.

Have you found the cause of your gaps.Like C9 says, the after market parts are poor at best.I completely rebuilt my 72 and none of the repro parts looked correct.Luckily I have a u pull yard that has half dozen stangs of my year.Like Don said check inside the cowl.I haven't seen 1 yet that wasn't rusted through. It can be checked by looking under the dash also. Just look around the big round plastic air intake on the passenger side and that should give you a good indication. Also check bottom of fender, bottom of door, and bottom of quarter panels, especially where the quarter meets the rocker. They were designed so that the rain would drain from the quarter glass down to the rocker and out the bottom. Once the weather strip breaks down the rust starts. Good Luck.
P.s. If you want more power use a set of closed chamber 4v heads and add a cam that is cut for lots of torque. My 71 mach had the stock 4v cleveland and I added a crane 302a cam, headman long tube headers, and a holley 780 cfm carb. That combo with the 4 speed and 3:50 trac loc rear put me in the 12's

Good luck w/ your new project and never be impulsive when purchasing parts, do your homework and be sure about what you want and you'll be able to do it right!! Lots of info and knowledgable people on these forums. Believe me, anything you thought of has already been thought of or done 6 times, so make sure once again to do your research.
Good Luck!!!

Don at Ohio Mustang has also been very helpful. Good man to deal with.
only benefit with CJ pony parts is the free shipping....and don't even buy their exhaust system..It is no where close to factory and they was not helpful with my concerns, it was like you bought it, shame on you.

Nice looking car, looks very solid. Ohio mustang(supplies) parts has almost anything you may need. Before you start changing things I recommend ordering a "Marti" report. The deluxe report will tell you exactly how your car was when it left the factory. As far as color, either choice would look great, you can't go wrong no matter which you choose. Personally I love Dark Red, but thats just me.
Good luck,
Keith

Welcome and I had the same issue with CJpony parts on 87 tail lights for a friends car and also purchased the led kit from them and the aftermarket tail lights are urethaned together and they must be taken apart to install the led kits and broke them.I did call them for advise prior to disassembly.they told me they should be the same to take apart as the factory ones. Morale here is you get what you pay for the advise was free and the light were 300 bucks lesson learned good used is sometimes better than new. My fenders and doors on my 69 are from NPD fit the car but not for the novice at best required grinding and fitting to get the body lines and gaps right. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AS PREVIOUSLY STATED. Good Luck
