In addition to the single picture shown here, GM has released pricing on the 2011 Camaro Convertible. The catch? They’ve only priced the V6 ragtop, which begins at an even $30,000, including a destination charge of $850. That’s a whole lot less than the second production Camaro Convertible sold for at last weekend’s Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas; I’d predicted a hammer price of $110,000, but when the gavel dropped the selling price was $205,000. That’s a huge amount of money to spend for an otherwise unremarkable production car, even if the proceeds did go to benefit a worthy charity (YMCA of Southern Nevada).
Pricing for the Camaro SS Convertible, with it’s 426 horsepower V8 mill, has yet to be announced. This is just an educated guess, but I’d expect the topless SS to begin at around $38,000; look for actual prices to be announced just prior to the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17. Drop top Camaros will begin hitting dealer showrooms in February 2011, so if you want one, I’d get your money down early.
