I like all the different stroker kits available, but I think the horsepower ratings are extreamly low for all of them. my stock displacement motor has 550 HP and they say the max HP for a 426ci motor is only 600. Matbe this info is just out dated!

Great posting. Thanks!
As for the HP lagging, correct me if I am wrong, but unless you're driving around 5000 RPM I doubt you'll notice a ton of difference. I've always been a big proponent of torque over HP with these beasts as all the HP in the world won't matter until you get the damned thing moving.
If you're racing some GTO or Charger from stoplight to stoplight, I'd rather have a torque monster.
But that's just me.

I added this to help others that might not know the different combination's etc.
This was by no means intended to be construed as the absolute answer.
Always feel free to add more info. The goal for Mach1Club is to accumulate all information regarding the Ford Mustang Mach 1 in one single place. Anyone that can add to that please feel free!

FYI-- I have built several stroker clevelands. Depending on what you are doing street or race engine and intended RPM's ect will determine head choice. However nothing beats the torque and horsepower of more cubic inches, That being said adding a stroker kit to clevelands is the easiest way to increase torque and horsepower. My cuurent setup is a 408 CID roller cammed motor on the street turning to 7200 RPM's with a 4 spd and 3.73 rear gear that ROCKS and is a blast to drive. The benefit of a stroker kit is adding more cubic inches moving more air and taking advantage of what ford actually built into the 4bbl heads. It also improves bottom end torqu greatly !! I could go on & on with this subject as I have a fair amount of knowledge building them. So instead of wasting space if anyone needs a hand or wants more information please get ahold of me I will be more than happy to share what I know and hopefully help you so you get through a few small pitfalls that do come with building a stroker. But the bottom line is STROKERS ROCK !!!!

Thxs! I do it because you all keep coming! There are lots of little morsels of information on this site if you dig around. Sometimes when I going thru the different things on the site I'm amazed myself how much stuff there is here.

By the way in 1971 ford did make a ford 400 clevland motor . I owned a 71 mercury . The motor I D said ford 400 C . The ford 400 is a 400 not a 400 M . The 351 M is a destroked Ford 400 . The 351 M has a shorter stoke . The 400 / 351 M are set up to bolt up to the big blocks trans . The Ford 400 Intercepter are one fast cop motor that did lasted . Just try putting a early Ford 400 with a C6 in a 71/73 mustang . Add a good carb and intake and 351 C headers you have one bad ass car. C.L. Try old school it works

Does anyone have any more information or specifications on this motor. I want to say this is the first I have heard of it but in the dark musty corrners of my brain it seems that I remember coming across one. Interesting. What did Ford do to make it a 400?
