Question: If a car had the "stripes" did it also have the metal trim pieces or were they mutually exclusive? I'm inclined to believe they were. My car does not have the stripes but it does have the metal trim and even though it looks like it was repainted at one time it all looks to be original. It's a real Mach 1 but it doesn't have the side stripes. I'd like to add them when I restore the car but if that involves frenching the metal trim pieces I might decide against it.
The standard mach-1 body trim was the anodized metal trim on the fenders, doors, and quarter panels. The optional scheme was the body side stripes and lower body paint/striping. You either got one or the other, not both. (as you see on many restorations) GXR

Thanks! That answers my question. Mine had the metal trim NOT the hockey stripes.

You may want to invest in a Marti report on your car. It gives the details of your car, by VIN, as manufactured. Marti also sells original invoices and reproduction window stickers specific for your car so you know what it came with originally.

That's some very good info. shows. I noticed on the diagram, it shows placement for a BOSS 302 fender decal, But no BOSS 351. I've heard before that the initial intention at ford was to make a 1971 boss 302, but since they dropped out of competitive racing, they went with their new 351 clevland instead.
Thanks for the info.,

i own a 71 mach 1 with a lower body molding (left page) missing on the passenger door due to an accident. i finally got a replacement (in addition to the door), but the fasteners are missing.
i wonder if someone knows where i can get the fasteners / retainers (as i don't want to glue them).
also, can anybody tell me how to best get the moldings off (and on again) or where to find instructions?
