Just the Facts:
* 2011 Ford Mustang RTR is a new dealer-installed package for the GT.
* Priced at $7,895, the package was introduced by drifter Vaughn Gittin, Jr.
You knew it was just a matter of time before the special edition 2011 Mustangs started hitting Ford dealerships, so here’s one of the first. Vaughn Gittin, Jr., in collaboration with Classic Design Concepts, is releasing a limited edition RTR Mustang. Unlike most tuner cars, this one is conservative in both styling and striping, and features tasteful mods that will enhance performance without breaking the bank.
On the outside, RTR Mustangs feature a chin spoiler with splitter and supports, a rear diffuser, aluminum rear wing, rocker splitters and unique 19” wheels with Falken Tires (Gitten, after all, drives the Monster Energy / Falken Tires Mustang GT in Formula Drift). Under the skin, the car gets a retuned suspension with custom springs and shocks, a reflashed ECU, a high flow intake and Ford Racing mufflers. On the inside, RTR touches are limited to floor mats, shift knob and logos. The package makes the new Mustang look even more aggressive, but without the tacky bodywork of most aftermarket tuners. If I had the bank for a new Mustang, I’d seriously look at an RTR; as long as the suspension wasn’t too stiff for street use, I could see one of these in my garage.
The RTR Mustang will be available at selected Ford dealers throughout the U.S., and there’s no info yet on pricing or availability. If you want the same treatment on a V6 Mustang, RTR will have one on the streets later this year.
