1960 Chevrolet Impala Shows the Definition of Torque
#1
Torque is a measure of rotational force. Given the rotational force exhibited by this ’60 Impala, I think we should stop using “foot pounds” as a standard of measurement and start using Impalas, where one Impala equals a thousand foot pounds of torque.

I have no idea how this car keeps it’s windshield in place or the doors shut. That motor must be making some serious power to loft the front end and twist the frame like that.

Pretty wicked Impala! I wonder how a frame and body that old holds up to that much torque!

Probably had to make some adjustments after that run :)

Hey Fella's
Let me shed some light on what is actually happening here. Yes the Impala is pretty fast. But the thing that is not obvious is that the suspension is unigue in that it has 2 very long trailing arms that are hinged right about the rear trans mount and go back to the rear axle in a long V. Very similar to some nascar suspensions. Very good for straight line stability, but as you can see not the best setup for drag racing!Notallthere
OOPs
I forgot to mention that since the suspension is doing all the twisting and that the Impala has a full frame. It's not twisting the body at all.:)

Still wanna know how the heck the windshield managed to stay in, probably plastic and has a ton of JB Weld.
