20 Year Old and just bought a Mach 1
#1
Hello!  I am Jon.  I am 20 years old from Canada.
I am new to this group and I just bought my second mustang.  First was 2004, and now I bought a 1971 Mach 1.  It needs paint and nothing else.
Underneath looks brand new, with not a single spot of rust!  I am going to paint it, and put new tires on her.

I am picking it up tomorrow morning.  Wish me luck.

Welcome Jon. Sounds like you're a very lucky young man. To have a 2004, then to score a rust free 71 Mach1, Wow that doesn't happen very often anymore. Form the pictures it looks pretty good. Here's hoping it's just as good as it looks. Again Welcome to the Club! Jump in anytime lots of good guys, with lots of knowledge, and a willingness to help. Good to have you. Looking forward to more pictures.

Hey JTS.  I just got it home this morning and it looks great.  Thanks for replying!  I will post more in the future!

Nothing like bringing home a new project. Looks like someone has done a lot of work on it already. If all you need is paint, you're way ahead of the ballgame. Let us know if you run into something you don't know about, and we'll help all we can. Good Luck.

For sure!  There are a few little things it needs which can be tricky.  For instance, I have the original radio that needs to be installed, which lets me to the question:  where the heck are the speakers in this car?  There are none in the door or back of car anywhere.

Secondly, the drivers seat is wobbly.  The rails it slides on are secure, but the seat rocks on an angle.  The back left corner can be pushed down, which makes the front right corner rise (hence moving on an angle).  The rails are secure like i said, but maybe they aren't straight and level.  Any knowledge on this?

Congrats and welcome!  Looks like an awesome project - I wish would've been as nice when I first got it.

Good for you!

Can't wait to see more pics and the progress.  Good luck - I hope everything goes how you want it to!  Thumbup

The speaker may be a dash speaker unless the original radio was AM/FM which should have door speakers and grilles? No speakers from the factory in the rear.. it was 1971 lol AM/FM was the touchscreen premium sound system of those days. The brochure mentions the AM/FM having 2 speakers for true stereo sound which was big back then.

As far as the seat rails I cant say for sure but they might have or had some bushings on them that wore out that prevents the seat from rocking..
