Texas plates

Yes, Arizona is a one plate state.  Some years ago both Arizona and Missouri plates were a dark red.  Missouri requires both plates and was a problem state for Arizona drivers due to their requirement for a front plate and a very similar design.

A neat option in some states is that you can use year correct plates on your classic which are linked to the current registration which you carry in the car. I have my 1973 Arizona plates ready!

Yes, Steven O, a longer visit will be the planned for my next trip.

I am back to working on Anna's 65 Mustang but I promise I will work on my Mach 1 just as soon as I can!  The ride in your Mach 1 was a great boost.

I had a New Mexico plate on my '82 Mustang (stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM) and visited SLC, Utah while home on leave - got pulled over by Utah Highway Patrol and was asked about my missing front plate (Utah is a 2-plate state as well).  Showed the officer my leave orders and military ID along with Utah DL and he was instantly much cooler about the stop (he was a retired Marine himself).  I explained that NM only issued one plate, and he was OK with the missing plate at that point, but advised me to check into it and make sure I didn't need the front plate when I returned to Alamogordo - just to make sure.

Personally, I think the front plates are a waste of resources as well as detract from the appearance of the vehicles.  Talking with several friends who are LEOs, they don't even consider the front plates when observing vehicles for whatever reason - if there's something wrong and they need to pull a car over for more information, they'll be parked behind the offending vehicle anyway.  Even if they see an oncoming car missing a front plate, they typically assume it's an out-of-state car, anyway.

Hey Eric,

Glad to hear the police officer let you go.  I assume he used the license plate as a reason to pull you over for something bigger. That is usually how the "wanted" guys or the DUI driver's get caught.

Thank you for your service.  Out of curiosity does Home Depot and Lowes give you 10% off?  They give the veterans 10% off in CT.

It was an honor and pleasure (I still work in Federal Service at Goodfellow AFB, TX, so it's really kind of still ongoing).

I'm not really sure about veteran's discounts.  I don't have a VA card (my wife does, though) since I never filed any claims when I separated from active duty (I just did 10 years, so I'm not retired or anything).  Whenever we both go to Lowes, she usually gets her veteran's discount.  Since I don't carry my DD-214 around with me, I don't worry about it.  Cool

If you have a My Lowes Card you should be able to go online and register.  I believe you just enter basic information from you DD-214 and when you swipe it when you check out and it will thank you for your service and knock off 10%. The My Lowes card is not a credit card.

I think I did that already.  They always ask and I give them my phone number, which they verify.  I have no idea if I get the discount or not, I don't check.  I'm usually focused on the task at-hand, since I don't go to Lowes much unless something's broken or I have a project going on. ;)
