My youngest daughter Shelby finished school last Friday. I had the pleasure of driving her and her partner Tom to their formal that night.

Dittos with JTS. Oh the great years of being young! Did Tom at least pop the big question that night? You know, can I drive the Mach 1?

Ha Ha, Tom only just got his license a couple of weeks ago. He is on
P plates which means he can't drive a V8. He stays on the P for a year and then he will go on to a P for two years. This is to try and protect the younger drivers until they are experienced. https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/licensi...strictions The funny thing is that while they are on their learners permit before they get their license they are allowed to drive anything whilst under supervision

It looks like Australia has outlined the rules pretty good for young drivers. It is smart a thing, especially with the high horsepower cars being manufactured today. I think it is interesting to see how other countries deal with young and new drivers. The U.S. seems to have less restrictions which may not be a good thing.

Yikes and I thought we had some goofy laws (Illinois). I remember one that stated. " The difference in height" between the Front and Rear Bumpers, can not exceed 4 inches maximum. This was measured from the bottom of each, to the ground. UNLESS !!! the vehicle was equipped to tow a trailer!
So what did all the hot rodders do??? We all installed trailer hitches on the back of our cars! My 71 Mach1 had a hitch on the back and was wired to pull a trailer. Which I actually did from time to time. Most were just for looks. HA! HA! Stick it Copper!!!

You know why they have that law don't you? It's because they didn't want all the gearheads driving down hill all the time (LOL)!

I have never heard of a drivers license that prevents driving high horse power cars. I guess it could be beneficial. But, there will still be the first time they drive a high horse power car and with that there will be a learning curve regardless. I.E. learning more throttle control on a high horsepower car. I think part of the issue is drivers training. I think during the training drivers should get experience with big older cars that do not brake and steer as well as todays cars. And also learning to drive a manual transmission car should still be a requirement like it use to be (at least in my area).
