Joyce Meyers has owned this 1972 Mach 1 since 1974

Ah, to be young in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Joyce Meyers was there for the glory years of the muscle car era, though by the time she graduated high school in 1974, the looming emissions and air quality issues were starting two put a stranglehold on our beloved Mustangs. So upon getting her diploma, Joyce bought one of the last bastions of Mustang performance from the era, this 1972 Mach 1.

Hailing from Independence, MO, Joyce drove her Mach 1 on a daily basis until years later when she married an auto body expert and they tore down and restored the car back to stock. That was in 1987, at which point she kept driving it often, eventually retiring it from the daily grind several years later. Today, the Mach resides mostly in the garage but Joyce takes it to local car shows and cruises, and said, “I take it out to blow the cobwebs out of it every now and then, and I go by myself.” Truly, a girl and her Mustang.

When the 2017 Hot Rod Power Tour rolled into Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Saturday, June 10, Joyce brought it out to the kickoff day and that’s where we found her. While Joyce and her Mustang didn’t go the Long Haul on Power Tour this year, retirement is just around the corner so she and her husband are thinking about going next year.

Each week Team Mustang Girls features a different female Mustang owner. Submit your story at http://teammustanggirls.com/submit-your-mustang-story/.

Neat site and story. I like the Joyce's 72 Mach 1 and the her husband bodywork and paint. She definitely married the right guy. I am only hoping the passenger side door is not closed all the way.

Thank you for sharing.

good eye! but i do think the doors open slightly, Ford was terrible with body gaps in these years.

If the door is closed all the way in the picture I would loosen the striker and give it a few taps inward with a hammer. This would draw the door closer to the quarter panel.

The body lines in the first picture look good and the gap between the door and fender in the 3rd picture is too difficult to assess because it is taken on an angle. I am still hoping the door is not completely closed. The work on the car looks too good to accept that panel alignment.

Like the movie stars in Hollywood say, shoot my good side!
