One thing to think about if you are going to start it in the car before you pull it, is to cut the heater hose lines off the core at the firewall and by-pass it just in case it is plugged.

That won't be a problem as the rats over the last 30 years have pretty well ate most of the hoses and a few wires here and there. so I'll have to loop together at the water pump. Need new plug wires, rotor and cap, etc. Just to make it run. JTS 71 Mach1

IT RUNS !!! The old Lincoln Fired off with very little fan fare and purred right along as if she was running last week. Slight bit of lifter clatter, no where like I expected after sitting 30 years. The liscense plate says 8 of 87 so that's the last time it was registered. So the mans story, that it sat that long sounds believable. I'm amazed after it had run 4 or 5 minutes, it setteled down and you darn near couldn't hear it run. On top of all that it never smoked not even the least little bit! And yes it does have oil in it! HAHA! Yes, I got a good one! Now to prepare the "Jag" for the transplant, and the transformation into a JACOBRA !!! JTS 71 Mach1

Just thought I'd give a little update, I don't know what it's been like in everybody else's neighborhood, but in Arkansas it's been HOT!!! So my progress has been slowed severely. Heck it's even been to hot to ride the bike, Momma and I have only ridden once this year, which sucks.
I'm just about to pull the engine out of the Lincoln all bolts out just have to hook the chain and pull. I did take a compression check on it and found all 8 cylinders with in excess of 180 psi !!! wow. Which divides out to 12.5 to 1 compression. Now most if not all books list the compression ratio as being 11.5 to one. The plugs came out very clean, light tan on the insulators, so I don't think it has carbon buildup in the cylinders. Ford did show 12.5 compression in an old Chilton I have, for a police intercetor with a 429. The heads are DOVE-C and I haven't pulled them yet to see if I've got flat tops or dished pistons. With the compression numbers, I'm betting on flat tops. Once I get it out, I'll give it a complete teardown and figure out what makes this thing tick, or should I say roar? The Jag has gotten cleaned up and I've bought several parts for it, but it's still all together at this point. Anybody want to buy a complete Jag V12 and auto trans??? Just kidding JTS 71 Mach1

Now there's a thought!! LOL! I'm not sure what the driving force behind that would be? At least with the 460 in the Jag it will run everyday, and go one heck of a lot faster then it was ever ment to. JTS 71 Mach1

If someone down the line bolted a pair of 429 closed chambered heads. Your compression will be 12.5 to 1 And with a little head work and the right cam, good sized holly you should be close to 500 hp with all of the torque one might need. You would have to check the casting numbers to be sure but...... be care full too much can be bad. The owner hates it. Wants to put the 351 Windsor back in. Good luck
