best 3 point belts for 72 fastback
#1
Hi there,

Just wondering if someone can share their experiences on retro fitting 3 point retractable belts to a 71-73 fastback. My car is equipped with front factory retractable lap belts and manual shoulder belt that clips into the main buckle. I wanted to replace the hole system with a modern belt and give me some freedom as the manual shoulder belt holds you in place like a fighter pilot and you can't even adjust the radio with ease. I see there are a few options but i am wondering whats the best and easiest to fit. I see Scott Drake do a kit and also Ohio Mustang sell a kit. Some photos and fitting instructions would be great if someone has them.

many Thanks

I'm not familiar with 73 Mustangs, but here is my 2 cents. There are some that have buckles that mimic the original style. I believe Scott Drake distributes them. They look closer to 69 Mustang style, I don't know about 73 Mustang. When I tried to find 3-point retractable seat belts for my 69 Mach 1, I discovered they all come from one or two manufacturers. I ultimately didn't do a conversion because on a 69 the larger 3-point retractor prevents the seat from going all the way back. Here are a couple of links.

Believe it or not Summit Racing carries Scott Drake Products.
