Australia & New Zealand Bound!
#1
In the month of March I will be headed to Australia and New Zealand and will also spend a few days in Hawaii. I will be there by invitation of some friends and fellow pastors but will have a few free days through it all.

Steve O and I have been in contact but I will still be over 900 K's (560 miles) from where he resides. I will be in Sydney for a few days, in Canberra for a week, in West Wyalong for a weekend, in Tasmania (I will be meeting up with Peter Winn) for a few days, in Christchurch for a few days, in Auckland for a few days and in Honolulu for a few days.

Anyone that is close to any of those locations that would like to meet up? Anyone have a must see sight or a must try restaurant that I can add to our list?

This will be our first time in Australia but hopefully not our last. It will be a return to New Zealand after an absence of twenty-two years.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!! WHICH ISLANDS IN HAWAII WILL YOU BE ON? I HAVE BEEN TO PEARL HARBOR TWICE AND GLAD I WENT BOTH TIMES. ALSO THE TOUR OF THE USS MISSOURI IS COOL. IF YOU ARE ON MAUI, KANAPOLI (MIGHT BE MIS SPELLED) BEACH IS GREAT FOR RELAXATION. ALSO ON MAUI IS THE FAMOUS ROAD TO HANA, ( VERY SCENIC ) WITH STOPS WHERE YOU CAN WALK BACK INTO THE JUNGLE FOR REALLY COOL WATERFALLS. ANOTHER ON MAUI IS THE FOUR WINNS EXCURSION WHERE THE TAKE YOU TO MOLOKINI FOR SNORKELING AND A COOKOUT ON THE BOAT. MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVED THAT. BIG ISLAND HAS VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK WHICH IS OK, THE COOLEST PART OF IT IS WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE LAVA FLOWING INTO THE OCEAN. WE WERE NOT THERE FOR AN ERUPTION WHICH DOES HAPPEN QUITE A BIT WHICH WOULD BE AN EXPERIENCE. ALSO STAY SAFE AND ENJOY!!!

Thanks for the tips on Hawaii Blake Jade.

We will only be in Honolulu and our time will be short but we do hope to see Pearl Harbor and the WWII history there.

BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN THERE I WELL UP A LITTLE BIT THINKING ABOUT ALL WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES. AND ALL WHO SERVE US NOW. TRUE HEROS. THE KIDS STILL TALK ABOUT HOW SOMBERING IT IS TO BE THERE. THE SECOND TIME OUR GUIDE WAS THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED. HE WAS ONLY A VERY SMALL CHILD SO HE REALLY DID NOT REMEMBER MUCH ABOUT IT BUT HIS DAD TOLD HIM GREAT DETAILS ABOUT IT WHICH HE SHARED WITH US. IF YOU HAVE THE TIME I HIGHLY RECOMEND DOING THE USS MISSOURI TOUR WHICH IS NEXT DOOR TO IT. THERE IS A SPOT MARKED ON THE SHIP EXACTLY WHERE WW II ENDED WITH THE SIGNING OF THE PEACE TREATY. MOST OF THE TOUR GUIDES ARE RETIRED VETS WHO ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF EVERYTHING YOU SEE.

Hi Steve hope you have a great trip, I used to live in Tasmania but now in Perth. Take some winter cloths with you because I think you may need them oh and a rain coat. Anyway If you do happen to catch up with Peter Winn I owe him some money for a carby he sold me but I cannot get hold of him. Tried numerous emails and left him a personal message on this site and I have sent him a letter (yes old fashion I know) but I have had no reply from any so not sure what hes up to. I really want to get this sorted as I do not like owing money especially as he done the right thing by me sending the carb and a fiber glass bumper with out even knowing who I was. So If you do see him can you please tell him to contact me other wise I will have to spend it. Happy travels

Absolutely Pete,

I will pass along the information to Peter when I see him or before should we touch base before then.

Years ago I had quite a few contacts in Perth but too many years have passed and they have moved. Someday the blessing of being on that side of Australia may come my way!

I hear you on the winter/rain wear for Tasmania. I have been keeping my eye on weather so I know how to pack.

Thanks.

Although I will not be in Australia till the twelfth we begin our itinerary from home tomorrow.

I am not sure how often I will be able to check in so cheers and enjoy my absence. I'll try to plan a few updates along the way and one when I return.
