72 Mach1 Restoration Project
#1
Got my 72 Mach1 in the winter of 2001 when I was 16. Ran the car until 2005 before I parked it. It sat for another three years out in the elements sadly before it was parked in my grandparents shop. I have just now got it to my house were its sitting in a nice heated shop to start its restoration.

Below are pictures from a few years ago 2008 if I remember right. Shes fully complete with all her original parts down to the original urethane bumper, sadly the bumper was beyond repair. I recently picked up a new old stock bumper that a guy had sitting in his shop for the past 30 years.

Started stripping the car down, passenger seat proved to be a problem as the bolts did not want to budge. A 24 hour soak in WD40 managed to pop them loose.

Wow not a bad start at all. Spending lots of time indoors has obviously helped you out. As it looks very solid. Good luck. JTS 71 Mach1

Yeah I got the car from its second owner and he had it garaged for the past 11 years before I bought it. First five years I had it, it sat outside which did a little damage to her. But yeah for the most part she's solid, all the original undercoating is still there which is pretty rare. So all the floor pans are rock solid.

LOOKS LIKE A GOOD SOLID START. ESPECIALLY THE FLOOR PANS. I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE OF SETS OF WHEELS LIKE THOSE GO FOR $400 AND $500 ON EBAY IF YOU ARE ARE NOT GOING TO KEEP THEM ON THE CAR AND CAN USE THE CASH. EVIDENTLY PEOPLE ARE BACK INTO THE RETRO OLD SYLE MAGS. HAVE FUN WITH THE RESTORATION!!!

Yeah I am not sure if I am keeping them or not at this point. Most likely when the cars done ill see how they look and either sell them then or keep them. Also does anyone know what these wheels are exactly? I got them off a friend that had them on a 55 BellAir.

On that note though, I will be selling the front and back seats. They are dyed black though the original owner did not like the green I guess. The driver side seat is in pretty bad shape the back does not lock so it wants to fold all the way back. The supports in the seat cushion are broke. I planed on upgrading the car to have the deluxe interior so if anyones interested in the seats and door panels.

They look like Keystone Classics. An early 1980's style.
