Deal or No Deal?

Although this article doesn't have anything to do with Mach 1's it does point out examples of what to look for in chasing classic cars!

Cool article; its easy to get excited about a car at first glance, but make sure you give it a good going over before you leap and buy it.

I went to look at a 69 Sportsroof a few years ago. The seller listed it up front as a Mach 1 clone but it looked great in the photos, I was sold before I even went to look at it. But once I saw it in person my expectations were not met. The paint was fresh, but a very sloppy job with lots of over spray and paint down into crevices that would have looked a lot better if removed from the car first. Interior parts were missing, the hood scoop was barely hanging on, but the engine sounded pretty good (302). Anyway I passed on it and never regretted the decision.
