2004 Ford Bronco Concept
The Ford Bronco, a truck that to me holds iconic status. I've owned a 1978, 1993 and 1995 Bronco. You see for me, these trucks still look, act and feel like a real truck should and were, in my opinion, the last ones built before Ford took the Bronco in a softer direction. The last of the Broncos rolled off the assembly line in 1996, a time at which smaller more compact trucks like the Jeep Cherokee and new Ford Explorer were beginning to hit the market.
Now, according to a quick blurb from Car and Driver’s Steve Siler, we see that there may in fact be some hope for Bronco lovers the world over. According to a recent conversation that Siler had with Jim Holland, the chief engineer behind the new Ford Explorer, Ford might possibly build a short wheelbase off-road machine to compete with the likes of Jeep’s Wrangler and Toyota’s FJ Cruiser. Keep in mind that this is no way set in stone, but I can tell you now that if Ford decides to bring back the iconic Bronco name, that it better have the stones to live up to it’s earlier namesakes.
