New user with a valve cover issue - Robg - 02-28-2021

Hello everyone from sunny Florida!  Proud owner of a2004 mach1. Currently trying to remove the valve covers to replace gasket and plug seals.  Wow!  Thought the passenger side would be easy! Can’t get the cover out. Anyone have a tips or tricks to remove without removing the air conditioning lines?  Seriously stuck. Thanks!!

SSig_welcome4 To the Club!  A 2004 Mach is a cool one, except for all the crap across the top of the motor. I have a son familiar with the those year mustangs. I can remember him griping about doing things on top of the engine. I'll ask him if it's possible to pull the valve covers without major surgery. I can't believe you'd have to unhook the A/C ???  Someone else will hopefully chime in with some more info as well. Good Luck with it. Enjoy the site tons of info, and good people. Again Welcome Cool

Thanks JTS71. Finally got it out. Had to hold all the wires and fuel line up out of the way just a bit and with some wrangling I got it out.  Put it back in only to discover one of the bolt gasket and grommets had popped out.  So, the search is on.  Are the grommets necessary? Maybe I can go without that one until I get a replacement?

The grommets are to keep you from over torqueing the valve cover and bending the cover or squishing the gasket. Go easy when tightening the one missing the grommet, and it shouldn't be an issue.
